I will rave about this dining experience for the remainder of my trip. Excellent food, but by far the best overall experience from start to finish because the service is above and beyond. As mentioned in other reviews, we were greeted with a glass of champagne and fresh bread and a tomato. Would HIGHLY recommend getting a reservation, but we were lucky enough that they happened to have a spot open that we were able to sit at. Our waiter (didn’t catch his name but had studied in Martha’s Vineyard for a time and knew his wine very well) was kind, charming, and had excellent recommendations and service throughout the meal. I would recommend this place to everyone, for any meal. Incredible food, service, and views.

Amazing fresh and tasty food. Our cruise stopped in Hvar for the night so we explored the small streets for some dinner. We found this great little tapas bar in a small little street, super cool location with great wine selection. Meals were designed to be shared, and we enjoyed everything we ordered. The staff were really friendly and helpful. If you’re in Hvar for the night, this is a fantastic place for dinner. Highly recommended.

Arrived late on a Sunday night to this cute restaurant nestled in a cute alley. The food was amazing. Very good portion sizes. Some of the best I had in Croatia, period. The service was excellent. I’d highly recommend the Konoba Bunar.

Stayed in Milna for 3 nights, we dined here the first night and loved it so much we came back a second time. We had grilled octopus with grilled julienned vegetables (devine) and pasticada (delicious) accompanied by a bottle of local wine. The location is right on the beach just 10 metres from the water and the service was very friendly & efficient. What more could you ask for?

Finally, proper fine dining in Croatia! Many locals somehow got the wrong idea that simply increasing prices makes a restaurant “fine dining.” They put extra effort into this illusion by charging more and more every year, while offering astonished tourists the same cheap grilled food and very slow, poor service. Unfortunately, you rarely have a choice – 90% of restaurants work exactly like this. But back to the experience. The lady at the reception was wonderful. We arrived a bit early and she entertained us with small talk until our booked table was ready. The service team was very attentive: always refilling water and wine, bringing complimentary homemade bread, and showing us the fish of the day. The tables are spacious, which makes you feel incredibly comfortable. Every detail – from the tablecloths to the lights and chairs – is well thought out (only the logoed wine glasses felt a bit cheap, in my opinion). The food was delicious and the portions were fair. The only minor issue was with the fish serving: the waitress didn’t do a great job deboning it in front of us and left quite a few bones. Still, her sex appeal made us forgive her 😺. Overall, the experience was a solid 5/5. It was a relief to see that Croatians can deliver proper hospitality if they put just a little effort into it! My sincere compliments to the owner – a very pleasant man, sipping his bottle of red wine at the bar while making sure everything on the floor was running smoothly. I’ll definitely be back soon!

We had an unforgettable evening at Gariful. The seafood tower was outstanding – fresh, vibrant, and full of flavour. From the white fish to the scampi and squid, every bite was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The highlight of the night was pairing it all with a bottle of Billy champagne, which was nothing short of sensational and complemented the seafood perfectly. What truly made the experience stand out was the exceptional service. Our server, MICO, went above and beyond – warm, attentive, and professional. He made the evening seamless and so enjoyable. The atmosphere, food, drinks, and service were all world-class. Gariful is a must-visit in Hvar if you’re looking for an elegant, fresh, and vibrant dining experience.

Il Porto is a beautiful restaurant with wonderful food and great atmosphere. Location is perfect, they are 5-10 mins walk from the ferry port which is a plus, much quieter area. We had steak and grilled fish (sea bass) and everything was super tasty.

Highly recommended! We ordered the truffle homemade pasta and the fried squid, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. I especially recommend the truffle pasta. Awesome place to eat and hang out. I had the traditional Hvar fish stew (Gegada) and it was so good and unique. Eating on the terrace was nice, they have small heaters and canopy when it gets cold.

Most memorable meal I’ve had in Europe. Throughout my time in Croatia, this food has felt the most authentic of all. Such a serene setting with extremely accommodating hosts. Hvar is full of amazing restaurants, and during our 3 night stay on the island, we made it a point to explore a few of them. One standout was Junior, a charming spot known for its delicious seafood dishes, generous portions, and reasonable prices. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating — we opted for the outdoor area after a short wait, which was absolutely worth it. The atmosphere was lively yet relaxed. We ordered two dishes: a shrimp buzara pasta and a vegetarian pasta, both of which were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. My personal favourite was the shrimp one, the sauce used was so delicious! The portions for both the dishes were more than satisfying, and every bite reflected the restaurant’s focus on quality and taste. For me, Junior is a must-visit if you’re in Hvar — great food, good value, and an authentic island dining experience. Highly recommended!

I was recommended this restaurant by the hotel I stayed in and it did not disappoint! The food was absolutely amazing, I had the seafood pasta and my partner had the tuna steak and they were both incredible. We had to wait around 20-30 mins for a table but were served drinks on the steps which was a lovely way to wait. Would definitely visit again when I next come to Hvar!

Beautiful sitting, very cozy, just right next to the sea.⛵ If you arrive in the evening it gives a beautiful sunset view with an ever so smiling and welcoming friend - Tony.😃 Coming to the food! A BIG WOW!!! We tried Lamb Shank and Pasta on day one, both were amazing. But the highlight which brought us back was the Lamb Shank and we can keep coming back to Hvar just for that. Tender, juicy, cooked to perfection, huge portion, grilled potatoes, the thick curry, the Lamb Shank was heaven! By the way, on our second visit, which was our last evening in Hvar, we ordered two Lamb Shanks! 😍 If you are here, you must have to try the Lamb Shank, this is the hot seller here and it will remain our all time favourite.

This place is absolutely magical, away from all the loud tourists in Hvar town. The setting is amazing and I would recommend arriving 15 to 20 mins early so you can explore before dinner and it getting dark. We were welcome with big smiles and warm hospitality, such a nice family. We had the lamb and veal Peka and it was amazing. The meat was soft and juicy and full of flavor. Their home made wine was great, it was different to anything else we had tried and that just added to the experience. If you are looking for something different and something that will be a memory, I'd encourage you to go. **As other people have said, reservation only and you need to pre-order Peka as it takes about 3 hours to cook.

Wow - this was one of the most amazing experiences we’ve ever had! My partner and I arrived on a warm, stormy night and were shown to our table, which had the most beautiful view of the garden, filled with vibrant, lovingly grown plants. As we settled in, the rain held off for a little while, but eventually it started pouring. We would have been soaked, but the family welcomed us into their home and kitchen without hesitation. There, we waited out the storm while they shared wonderful stories about the origins of the restaurant and the history of Croatia. It was such a genuine, memorable, and heartfelt experience - one we’ll never forget.

Absolutely fabulous!! Everything about it. Blown away by the food: the beef gnocchi, octopus goulash and linguine w prawns and mussels were fabulous. Burrata starter lovely too. Really beautiful, interesting options - “Grandma’s favourites” all looked amazing a we had a hard time deciding. (Saw the seafood stew for 2 at the next table and would love to go back to try it!) Server was wonderful! He was very sweet and patiently explained the many authentic menu options to us. Wonderful patio with a view of the bell tower and fortress. Highly recommend!

Amazing first dinner in Hvar! The rooftop has a view of the fortress and gets a nice breeze. The service was amazing and the family who runs the restaurant are so friendly. The food was so fresh and to top it all off they have their own wine that paired perfectly. There is another restaurant downstairs owned by the same family but is different. It is a little deceiving when you reach the top of the stairs so if you are trying to find the rooftop make sure to keep walking around the corner! We waited thinking it was the same place but then asked to find out it was not. Thanks for a great experience! Cheers!

This place was awesome. Got picked up from our boat and was dropped off right at the restaurant! Loved the view at sunset and all of the bites were delicious!

Local family eatery. Marveled as the waitress (owner?) served Croatian women, American table & group of German men, speaking to each in their native language. She also provided an excellent wine recommendation. Brushetta was delicious as was the grilled octopus. Arrive by boat & water taxi will pick you up. Truly a memorable experience.
