Restaurant Krug is an intimate dining establishment located at Trumbićeva obala 17, 21000, Split, Croatia.
The restaurant features an open kitchen surrounded by an L-shaped, 12-seat counter, allowing guests to observe and interact directly with the chefs as they prepare meals. Fish and meat are aged in visible refrigerators within the dining room, adding to the immersive experience.
Krug offers a 9-course tasting menu, which highlights fresh, organically grown ingredients sourced from local farmers, butchers, and fishermen. The contemporary cuisine focuses on creatively reinterpreting local products, with most ingredients originating from the sea or the surrounding hinterland. All served items, including butter, bread, and fermented products, are produced in-house. The menu is subject to change based on the seasonal availability of ingredients. A sommelier is available to offer an extensive and well-curated wine list designed to complement each course.
The restaurant has been awarded one Michelin star, recognizing its high-quality cooking.

Restaurant Krug in Split, a truly outstanding experience
One of the best, if not the best restaurant in Croatia.
The space is minimalist yet perfectly styled, every detail feels intentional. The team - professional, attentive but never intrusive, radiating great energy. And the food… simply a story on its own. Each dish is brilliantly crafted, balanced, and executed to perfection.
A special highlight was the wine flight, which followed the menu flawlessly and elevated the whole experience.
Definitely a place we’ll be coming back to this kind of quality and emotion is rare to find.

I feel bad giving a 4-star review, because 7 out of the 9 dishes were amazing — some more than others, but all truly impressive. Unfortunately, the two mains (cod and the steak) were just far too salty. So salty, in fact, that I couldn’t taste anything else, which was a real shame considering the ingredients were clearly of the highest quality. I appreciate all sorts of combinations when it comes to food, but I firmly believe that the ingredients should speak for themselves, and not the seasoning.
Appetizers were out of this world.
I would skip the wine pairing — at €90 for 4 glasses, it simply isn’t justifiable. On the other hand, the non-alcoholic pairing was fantastic.
The atmosphere and staff were wonderful — I’d describe it as “France meets Japan” when ti comes to the design of the restaurant, and the vibe was unpretentious (which we really appreciate).
Plating and presentation were spectacular — a true 10/10. Had the two mains not been so overly salted, it would have been a perfect 9-course meal.
It’s more than just dinner — it’s a full experience, and we had a beautiful time overall. I do highly recommend it.
