We had the opportunity to dine at Za Kantuni several times, but every time our eyes were quicker than the camera — we never managed to capture the beautiful dishes before they disappeared!
The overall atmosphere, interior, and staff are all exceptional. You immediately feel at home. Everyone went out of their way to make our Sunday lunch truly wonderful.
For starters, we ordered boškarin carpaccio (Istrian cattle), beautifully seasoned and served with toasted homemade focaccia. For the warm starters, we had a rich porcini mushroom soup and beef broth — everything was perfectly warm, flavorful, and authentically homemade.
For the main course, we enjoyed red mullet with Swiss chard and potato, fried calamari, and I had boškarin tagliata with roasted vegetables. The meat was perfectly cooked, tender, delicious, and delicately seasoned with aceto.
There is no doubt this is one of the best restaurants we’ve ever eaten at. Many thanks to the staff, chefs, and the owner for such a warm welcome. Highly recommended!

Za Kantuni – A timeless gem in Mali Lošinj
Za Kantuni is one of those places where history, tradition, and genuine hospitality come together beautifully. The setting itself is charming, with a lovely interior full of character and spacious shaded terraces that make it perfect for a long, relaxed meal.
The food is rooted in local tradition but elevated by the freshness of the ingredients and the skill in the kitchen. We especially enjoyed the handmade scampi pasta—rich, delicate, and full of flavor—as well as the octopus carpaccio, which was fresh and perfectly prepared. The wine list is well chosen, featuring great local options to complement the dishes.
Service was superb throughout—professional yet warm, which really made the experience memorable.
This is a historic and truly special restaurant, and in our view, one of the must-visit places in Mali Lošinj. A place not to miss
