My impressions are very mixed. We visited this restaurant twice, once for dinner and once for lunch. The dinner was nice — the waiter was attentive and thorough. One downside was that although we chose a fresh fish for dinner, we were served a larger piece than expected, which we struggled to finish. It was clear the restaurant was trying to increase the bill by selling a more expensive fish. However, since we were very satisfied with the fresh oysters, langoustines, and the recommended wine, we let it slide. The recommended cigar, however, was a disappointment — I should have ignored the suggestion and gone with something I knew. The bill was higher than expected (over €250 for two people), but overall, we were quite happy.
The problem came during our second visit. The waiter was very poor — he didn’t bring moist wipes or claw crackers for the langoustines, and when I asked for them, he forgot to bring a fork. He was also aggressively pushing fresh fish, and we chose a plaice. During the filleting, the waiter was clearly inexperienced, and we ended up with fish pieces on our plates that looked like they came from a can. The portion was just enough for two, and I expected the price to be in line with other places (around €60). I was surprised to see that we were charged €126 for that small, messy portion of fish.
Their tiramisu (the second worst I’ve had in Fažana) didn’t impress either. When I diplomatically mentioned we didn’t enjoy it, I got a curt response that “it’s different because it’s homemade.” Well, I make homemade tiramisu too — and it’s in a different league. The final bill of €222 for lunch for two (we only had wine by the glass, not a bottle) was both a surprise and a disappointment. In my opinion, this was another fish scam — no prior information about the price, which was completely out of line with the standard. I seriously do not recommend this place.
